چکیده

The speed-gradient variational principle (SG-principle) for nonstationary far from equilibrium systems is formulated and illustrated by examples. The SG-model of transient (relaxation) dynamics for systems of a finite number of particles based on maximum entropy principle is derived. It has the form dX(t)/dt = A lnX(t), where X(t) is the vector of the cell populations, A is a symmetric matrix with two zero eigenvalues corresponding to mass and energy conservation laws.

Speed Gradient and MaxEnt Principles for Shannon and Tsallis Entropies

In this paper we consider dynamics of non-stationary processes that follow the MaxEnt principle. We derive a set of equations describing dynamics of a system for Shannon and Tsallis entropies. Systems with discrete probability distribution are considered under mass conservation and energy conservation constraints. The existence and uniqueness of solution are established and asymptotic stability...

Dynamics of Non-stationary Processes That Follow the Maximum of Continuous Tsallis Entropy

In this paper a non-stationary processes that tend to maximize the Tsallis entropy are considered. Systems with discrete probability distribution for the Tsallis entropy have already been investigated on the basis of the Speed-Gradient principle. The evolution of probability density function and continuous form of the Tsallis entropy are considered. A set of equations describing dynamics of a s...

Speed Gradient and MaxEnt principle for Shannon and Tsallis entropies

The notion of entropy is widely used in modern statistical physics, thermodynamics, information theory, engineering etc. In 1948, Claude Shannon introduced his information entropy for an absolutely continuous random variable x having probability density function (pdf) p. In 1988, Constantino Tsallis introduced a generalized Shannon entropy. Tsallis entropy have found applications in various sci...

Comparison of entropy generation minimization principle and entransy theory in optimal design of thermal systems

In this study, the relationship among the concepts of entropy generation rate, entransy theory, and generalized thermal resistance to the optimal design of thermal systems is discussed. The equations of entropy and entransy rates are compared and their implications for optimization of conductive heat transfer are analyzed. The theoretical analyses show that based on entropy generation minimizat...

MapReduce/Bigtable for Distributed Optimization

With large data sets, it can be time consuming to run gradient based optimization, for example to minimize the log-likelihood for maximum entropy models. Distributed methods are therefore appealing and a number of distributed gradient optimization strategies have been proposed including: distributed gradient, asynchronous updates, and iterative parameter mixtures. In this paper, we evaluate the...
